Ellen Pompeo and Denzel Washington fought with each other.
After a dispute on ‘Grey’s Anatomy set, Ellen Pompeo refused to talk to Denzel Washington.
Ellen’s character Meredith Grey had her jaw broken by an epileptic person. They hired the ‘Training Day” actor to direct season 12 of the medical drama ‘The Sound of Silence.’
But the 51-year old actress wasn’t sure he was suitable for the job, and eventually, they clashed after she wrote the script.
She stated that Denzel had never seen the show and didn’t watch TV much.
“He directed the show because his wife was a huge fan… I think that he thought it was a great exercise to come in and lead something quickly.
“But, imagine Denzel Washington being asked to direct an episode on ‘Grey’s Anatomy. It’s something I had never imagined I would ever see.

They have specific energy and vibration that makes them charismatic. Patrick, Obama, and everyone I know who is crazy charismatic has it. Denzel is a master at it.
“But Denzel is a movie star, right?” He doesn’t know anything about directing TV.
Ellen recalled the moment she strayed from the script, which upset Denzel, who felt she had overstepped her boundaries.
She spoke on her podcast, “Tell Me.” She said that one of the scenes in the episode was where she had to confront the man who beat her up.
Meredith was hesitant. She was at the point when she didn’t have it. My jaw was broken, and I couldn’t bear to listen to the character apologize.
“I did not want to speak to or see the actor before this scene. So I didn’t have any interaction at all with him. He apologized to me but was speaking very softly. He chose to whisper.
“And I was p *****, so I had to sit down and listen to his apology. He wasn’t looking at my face… I yelled at his face, “Look at me!” Look at me when you apologize.
“Denzel got hammered on my a**. You don’t have to tell him what he should do!
He was like, “I’m the director!”
“I was like, “Listen, mother***er! It is my set! Who are you kidding – You barely know where the toilet is?’ I have the greatest respect for him as an actor and director. But we did it! This is my show!”
“Then his wife came to visit, and I wasn’t talking to him. I was mad at him. I told his wife that he had yelled at him today.
He allowed me to have it today, but I’m still not OK with him, and I’m avoiding looking at him and talking to him.
Ellen and Denzel were, however, excellent after that, and the actress insists there are no hard feelings.
She said, “He’s just the best to do it ever.”
Ellen said that Debbie Allen, the producer of the Hollywood legend, was only there to keep Ellen “interested” after Patrick Dempsey’s departure.
Therefore, she said to her ex-star, “After you left me, I was like, Eh, why must I stay here? Everyone is gone. I have to go now. Sandra’s gone, Patrick’s gone, I gotta go, too.”
