On Tuesday, former Union minister Salman Khurshid said that Congress has great ideological differences against the Samajwadi Party (SP).
However, he added, Congress would prefer ousting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the power “because they’ve been horrible”.
In an interview with ANI, Mr Khurshid declared, “We are not in a great relationship with the SP since we have great ideological differences. In the bigger picture, we’d prefer to remove all the BJP from power as they’ve been awful.”

As the voting in the 4th phase of the election in Uttar Pradesh is underway, Mr Khurshid’s comments signal that Congress is getting ready for post-poll adjustments made in the state due to a divided Assembly.
Concerning Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s election campaign across Uttar Pradesh, Mr Khurshid stated, “We are contesting the elections with vigour to make our their presence felt across the state. We must watch the results of the new strategies implemented in the campaign of Vadra within UP. If not today, the politics will transform the face of UP.”
Following the fourth phase of voting on Wednesday, the elections in UP will be concluded in 58% of seats across the state.
Both the BJP and the SP have expressed confidence in being the next government to be formed for the State. Vadra has stated during the campaign trail that Congress has a focus on issues that are urgently important to the citizens.
The fourth phase of the elections today will determine what happens to 624 contestants across the 59 Assembly segments located in Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda and Fatehpur districts.
The final voting phases will occur between the 27th of February, March 3, and March 7.
The count of votes will take place by March 10.
