The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday that all counties in Connecticut and Massachusetts are the site of high or substantial transmission of the coronavirus. The increase in transmission in the two states reflects a national and regional trend.
Some health authorities recommend that even vaccinated people reuse masks indoors in areas of high or significant transmission. The CDC reported that all counties in the six-state region were high or essential information on Sunday, except for Orange County, Vermont, and Kennebec County, Maine. That includes almost all of New England.
In Connecticut, New London, New Haven, Middlesex, and Hartford counties were the high transmission sites. The other four counties in the state were included in the substantial category. In Massachusetts, Suffolk, Nantucket, Dukes, Plymouth, Bristol, Essex, Hampden, and Berkshire counties were the site of high transmission. The other six counties in the state were important.
