ICC bans Qadeer Khan for 5 years for corruption.

ICC banned Qadeer Ahmed Khan for five years from all cricket tournaments. He was a United Arab Emirates (UAE) player, and he also accused Mehardeep Chhayakar of six counts of corruption.

The ICC said Khan admitted to six infractions related to not disclosing the approaches or invitations received in connection with the Zimbabwe v UAE series in April 2019.

Khan disclosed inside information in August 2019 when he knew or should have known that he could use the information for gambling purposes.

He did not disclose to the ACU all the details of the approaches or invitations received in connection with the Netherlands v UAE series in August 2019.

He did not disclose details of the facts or matters that came to his knowledge that could reveal the corrupt conduct of another participant under the Code. He refused to cooperate with an investigation into possible unethical behavior under the Code.

Alex Marshall, General Manager of the ICC Integrity Unit, said: “Qadeer Khan is a seasoned international cricketer who has received anti-corruption training. He should have avoided people he knew to be corrupt and report any suspicions immediately. ”

Meanwhile, the ICC has charged Chhayakar, who played domestic cricket in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, with six counts of violating the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code.

“The ICC filed the charges on its behalf and also on behalf of Cricket Canada as its Designated Anti-Corruption Official for Q20 Global 2019,” the ICC statement added.
