India to Meet Norway in Davis Cup

The Indian Davis Cup team was drawn to face Norway in its next World Group I tie on Thursday.

This away contest will be held in conjunction with the Asian Games in September.

The tie for the Davis Cup will take place on September 16-17, 17-18 or 17, while the Asian Games tennis events are scheduled to take place from September 10-14.

It will not be possible to reach Norway even if the Indian players have completed their Asian Games engagement before April 14. The players must adjust before they can take to the court.

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) will have to ensure that India is represented at both events.

“We had discussed this with the Asian Tennis Federation and the ITF, as 12 Asian countries will be affected. We asked for a change of date, but they refused. So we appeal to the ITF, “Anil Dhupar, AITA Secretary-General, told PTI.

“We want both the events and other nations to participate in them. Pakistan has also filed a separate appeal. Let’s see. ” The world’s eighth-ranked Casper Ruud, India, and Norway have never clashed in Davis Cup history.

Viktor Durasovic is their next best player, ranked 329 on the ATP’s singles.

“Every tie at this stage is difficult, and it’s a different challenge when it is an away tie. It is too soon to determine if the draw is in our favour. There is still plenty of time before the tie, “stated India coach Zeeshan A.
