Kalighat-Chetla-Rasbihari flooded due to Adi-Ganga overflowed.

Cyclone Yaas did not affect Kolkata like Amphan last year. Despite this, several parts of Kolkata faced medium to heavy rainfall. The cyclone causes inflation in the Adi-Ganga. Therefore, many areas flooded, including Kalighat, Rasbihari, Bhabanipur.

Dirty water enters the nearby houses. According to the municipality, the water will go down once they open manholes. It will take six to seven hours for the water to recede in the whole area.

The water level of Adi-Ganga has risen due to the full moon, lunar eclipse. Doctors are concerned about the spread of the infection in Kolkata waterlogged conditions. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been monitoring the situation from Navanna.

According to the Meteorological Department, the water level of the Ganges may rise further after 10:30 pm on Wednesday. In that case, the Chief Minister has requested to cut off the power supply to the submerged areas of South Kolkata.

On the other hand, continuous rains since Tuesday night inundated several areas of North Kolkata. Few trees fell in different places. However, throughout the city, the NDRF team quickly came down to handle the situation.
