Hazra Shifa, who is a student of the Karnataka region’s Udupi in the Udupi district and also one of the plaintiffs in the case of the hijab ban, she claims the fact that her brother was assaulted by an armed group of right-wingers who attributed the violence to her decision wearing a hijab.
The brother of her, Saif, Was attacked by a gang of attackers at the Bismillah Hotel in Malpe, a port in Udupi district, about 9 pm on Monday.

“My family member was shockingly assaulted by the mob, for the reason that I defend my #Hijab that is MY RIGHT. Our home was destroyed too. Why?? Why can’t I assert my rights? Who is the next victim? I’m calling for action to be made against Sangh Parivar Goons.” the tweet was posted at midnight, with a tag for officers from the city of Udupi.
There have been protests in Karnataka against Hijabs (headscarf) held in Karnataka began in the fall of last year when schoolchildren were prohibited from wearing them.
It has since sparked protests and counter-demonstrations involving saffron scarves that have also spread to other states.
To ease tensions, the Karnataka state government had temporarily shut down schools, but they have slowly reopened since they were opened.
In an interim order by an interim order, the Karnataka High Court has imposed an interim ban on wearing any religious symbol at schools. It is also considering the headscarf ban.
State government officials, in defense of its ban on headscarves in schools, have informed the Karnataka justices that wearing the hijab isn’t an essential practice in the religion of Islam and prohibiting it is not in violation of the constitution’s protection of freedom of religion.
