Lalu will give 1st major speech today after a long year

Lalu will give 1st major speech today after a long year.

The RJD is celebrating the anniversary of its founding on July 5, 1997. The virtual celebrations were started by Tejashwi Yadav, son of Lalu Yadav, on Sunday.

Lalu, who had been released on bail, will address the virtual event from Delhi where he is being treated. The event is being watched as it will be Lalu’s first speech since his conviction and imprisonment in Fodder Scam cases in 2017.

Tejashwi was cited by The Times of India as if to say: “It will be the first time that Laluji will address the workers after a long gap due to his poor health. He will give them a message and will also discuss the prevailing political scene in the state and the country.

According to a Twitter post from Lalu on Sunday, events in the founding day celebration will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, and his speech is expected at 1:20 p.m.

Chirag yatra

Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan, who was ‘overthrown’ last month as the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), will launch an ‘ashirwad yatra’ from Hajipur, the stronghold of his late father and party founder Ram Vilas Paswan. The yatra is held to commemorate the birthday of Ram Vilas Paswan.

Chirag had said last month that the demonstration would span the state. The yatra is being perceived as a declaration of intent by Chirag to accumulate support as he seeks to regain control of the LJP from his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras’ faction.

Interestingly, the RJD had mentioned that it would pay tribute to Ram Vilas Paswan. Since the upheaval in the LJP, Tejashwi had reached out to Chirag and asked him to get away from the BJP-led NDA.
