Man Dies After Thrown into Well in Gujrat

Davinder had disappeared on June 18 and his remains were found on June 19. He was working as a painter at a private school in Sector 27.

Panchmahals police arrested five people and booked a total of 13, including two women, on Thursday for allegedly killing a 25-year-old man by hitting him and throwing him into a well in a minor dispute on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the Sheghra Taluka village of Panchmahals, Waghjipur. According to a complaint filed by Narendra Baria on Tuesday night, her bicycle accidentally hit her sister-in-law, who lives two houses from her own. The woman is a distant cousin of Narendra’s wife.

Narendra was riding the bicycle, while her brother Rajendra was riding a passenger. They immediately apologized, but the woman, who is also the primary defendant in the case, continued to argue and warned the brothers of serious consequences.

The next day, he gathered his brothers and family and came to Narandra’s house to “teach him a lesson.” In his complaint, Narendra said that the men came armed with sticks and began beating him. When his brother Rajendra intervened, he was brutally beaten and thrown into a deep well.

Rajendra yelled for help and then drowned, according to the complaint. The accused fled the scene. Narendra, with the help of other villagers, entered the well and recovered her brother’s body. They took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Postmortem confirmed that Rajendra suffered severe internal head injuries and drowned.

Police are investigating any type of rivalry between the two families. Prima facie the incident occurred due to a minor accident. None of these complaints has been registered against any member of the two families … According to the villagers, they lived in harmony. We are still investigating further if there is some kind of old rivalry, “said researcher NM Prajapati.

Based on the complaint, all defendants were registered under sections 143 of the Indian Penal Code (a member of an illegal assembly), 147 (Punishment for riots), 148 (Riots, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (All Members of the illegal assembly are guilty of a crime committed in the prosecution of a common object), 323 (Punishment for causing harm voluntarily), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 302 (murder).
