Nagaland Peace Process

A delegation of Nagaland legislators will arrive in Delhi today to meet with Union ministers and representatives of various political parties to press them on the Nagaland peace pact, urging them to resolve the vexing political issue expeditiously.

Members of a group of at least 15 MPs will be sent to the meeting on Saturday, led by the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, who is in charge of the assembly’s political issues.

The chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), TR Zeliang, was also at the meeting. He was also the co-chair of the committee.

She is the member secretary of the committee. Neiba Kronu, in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, said that two MPs from the state were also there for the meeting.

The meeting also looked at how the Parliamentary Committee has been working since set it up in June of last year.

The Parliamentary Committee has met with tribal groups and civil society groups in the state to help with the Naga peace process. They have also asked the negotiating groups to develop a solution that is honourable, acceptable, and transparent.

The NSCN(IM) and the Indian government have been working together to find a solution to the Naga issue since 1997. They signed the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015.
