Communal violence erupted yesterday during Ram Navami processions in four states: Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

- Following violence and arson during an event called Ram Navami, parts of Khargone in Madhya Pradesh were put under curfew, said a top official. Police have been sent out in large numbers to stop any fights from getting out of hand.

- Police have been stationed in Howrah, in Bengal, after reports of fights during a Ram Navami procession in the Shibpur area. Police say they are taking steps to keep the peace.
- People in the opposition BJP say that police tried to stop people from going to a ceremony for Ram Navami. Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the Assembly, said that police were hitting people who were taking part in the Ram Navami procession.
- Police have asked people in Howrah not to post anything on social media, and they have told them not to spread any fake news.
- In Lohardaga, Jharkhand, there have been reports of stone-throwing and fires on Ram Navami procession in the city as well. Several people are said to have been hurt, three of them seriously. Heavy police are on the scene to keep the peace.
