On Sunday (February 27, 2022), Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at an election rally in the city of Basti in Uttar Pradesh.
He took a jab at the opposition parties. PM Modi said there is a big difference between “Rashtra Bhakti” (love for the country) and “pariwar bhakti” (love for your family).
This is an apparent attack on the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav (devotion to family).
He also said that governments led by dynasts made India rely on other countries for its defense needs in the past, but now the focus is on “atmanirbhar.”

“Because we don’t have our oil refineries, we have to buy crude oil from other places. They didn’t pay any attention to it. It can now be made with the help of sugarcane, and ethanol can be made as well! The government is setting up a network of ethanol plants. ” It was Prime Minister Modi said,
“For years, these “Parivarwadis” made our armies rely on other countries, making India’s defense weak (sector)…”
“It used to be that we didn’t have a defense corridor in Uttar Pradesh, but now there is one being set up in the state,” he said.
He also criticized the rival parties for wanting proof of the Balakot airstrike.
“The country celebrated three years of the airstrike on Feb. 26, but dynasts had asked for proof of it then,” he said, per the New York Times.
He also said the government is working hard to get all Indians living in Ukraine back home.
Russia has started to attack Ukraine, so India sent its citizens back home on Saturday.
Civil aircraft can no longer fly over Ukraine, so Indian evacuation flights are now taking off from Bucharest and Budapest, Romania.
It looks like he will now speak at rallies for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddarthnagar, and Ambedkarnagar later on today in support of the party candidates.
