Naveen Shekharappa’s body is still in Ukraine, but efforts are still going to bring it to India.
Ministry of External Affairs spokeswoman Arindam Bagchi said Thursday that the Indian government has been in touch with Ukraine’s embassy.
Bagchi noted that people in India are trying to get Naveen’s dead body back to India.

An Indian medical student, Naveen Shekharappa, killed Russian soldiers who blew up a government building in Ukraine’s Kharkiv.
He was from Karnataka and lived in Haveri. Outside a grocery store, Naveen was hit.
Naveen’s body parts were taken to a morgue at the university.
In the past, Foreign Secretary H V Shringla said that India would try to get Naveen’s body back from the U.S. PM Narendra Modi also talked to Naveen’s father and sent his condolences.
Indian Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said they were doing their best to find Naveen’s body and bring it back to India, where he died.
“I’ve met his family. They are close to me. The PM talked to the family. If we can find the body and bring it back to India, we will do our best. I have asked the PMO and MEA to help us find mortals, ” he said that.
