Navi Mumbai: CIDCO transfers land to MRVC for Airoli-Kalwa rail corridor
The Maharashtra Municipal and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) approved the transfer of a 919 square meter piece of land in Digha Village in Navi Mumbai to the Vikas Corporation of Mumbai Railways for the Airoli-Kalwa elevated corridor project.
Under the project, which is run by the Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), Navi Mumbai trains will go directly to Kalwa station in Thane district.
CIDCO Vice President and CEO SanjayMukherjee said in a statement Tuesday that the development of this project will relieve pressure on Thane train station and that Kalyan commuters will be able to travel comfortably.
The decision was made following a request from MRVC for the transfer and possession of the CIDCO land in 2018.
The land will be used solely for the Airola-Kalwa elevated rail link and will be subject to the provisions of the 2008 Navi Mumbai Land Removal (Amendment) Regulations, according to the statement.
