“This was a social gathering, not a political one. A good friendship has been built up between me and Raj Thackeray and his family for the last 30 years. I had come to see his new house and to find out how well his mother was. It was a visit with my family and not a political one “He said that.
Notably, the meeting takes place just a day after Mr. Thackeray asked the Maharashtra government to remove loudspeakers from mosques and warned against “putting loudspeakers in front of the mosques and playing Hanuman Chalisa.”
People in Mumbai heard Mr. Thackeray say this when he spoke to the party “If you want to pray at home, you can, but the government should decide to take down mosque loudspeakers. I’m telling you now. Remove the loudspeakers or else they will be placed in front of the mosque and will play Hanuman Chalisa.”
