Police investigating Ronaldo’s phone incident after 0-1 loss to Everton.
After Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat at Everton on Sunday, Merseyside police said they were investigating CCTV evidence to see if Cristiano Ronaldo committed an infraction by knocking a mobile phone out of a supporter’s hand.
After Saturday’s encounter, the video that emerged on social media showed Ronaldo swiping his hand towards the ground as he walked off the pitch and into the tunnel at Goodison Park.
According to witnesses, the 37-year-old allegedly pushed a fan’s phone out of their hand and crushed it to the ground. Ronaldo later apologized on Instagram for the incident.
Merseyside Police said they were in contact with both clubs following allegations of an alleged assault.

“As players departed the pitch at 2.30 p.m., it was alleged that an away team member assaulted a boy,” the spokesperson stated.
“Investigations are ongoing, and officers are presently working with Everton Football Club to analyze CCTV material and conduct comprehensive witness interviews to determine whether an infraction has occurred.”
United are now seventh in the Premier League standings, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and face the threat of losing out on Champions League participation next season.
