On Tuesday, Anil Parab, a senior Shiv Sena politician and Maharashtra minister, said that his party would run a second candidate in the next Rajya Sabha elections, potentially hurting Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati’s chances.
Mr Parab told reporters that the leaders of the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, which make up the governing Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, would meet and deliberate on election strategy.

“The Shiv Sena’s quota will be represented by the MVA’s (second) candidate, and the leaders will determine how to get that candidate elected. However, I am convinced that Sena’s second candidate will be selected, “he stated.
Six Rajya Sabha members from Maharashtra had their terms expire on July 4: Piyush Goyal, Vinay Sahastrabuddhe, and Vikas Mahatme (all from the BJP), P Chidambaram (Congress), Praful Patel (NCP), and Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena).
Candidates for all four parties have yet to be announced.
Sambhaji Raje, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and a member of the Kolhapur royal line, was formerly a President-nominated member of the Upper House of Parliament.
He recently stated that he would run for the Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate in the upcoming election and urged all parties to support him.
He used to be a member of the BJP.
With its current number of MLAs, the BJP can win two RS seats, while the Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP can each win one. As a result, the competition will be for the sixth seat.
Sharad Pawar, the president of the National Congress Party, has intimated that his party would back Sambhaji Raje’s candidacy. However, if he does not get votes from the MVA’s other two constituencies, his election may be challenging.
On May 24, a notification for the Rajya Sabha elections will be released. On June 13, the whole procedure will be done.
