Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh was cremated at the Chhatarpur crematorium here in the presence of family and relatives on Monday, two days after his death in a Singapore hospital.

The last rites took place around 11:30 a.m. Her two daughters consigned their mortal remains to the flames.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, Singh’s last rites were performed in the presence of a limited number of people, including actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada, who considered him his “godfather.”

Earlier in the day, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP member Rajya Sabha, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Jaya Prada were among the first to pay flower tributes to the former Samajwadi Party leader on his Chhatarpur farm.

His wife Pankaja Singh and their two daughters were present there.

Singh’s body was taken to the national capital in a chartered plane Sunday night.

The 64-year-old man had been in treatment at a Singapore hospital for six months and had previously undergone a kidney transplant in 2013.
