Retd judge of HC appointed Gujarat Lokayukta

The Gujarat government named Rajesh H Shukla, a retired judge from the Gujrat High Court, on Monday as the next Lokayukta. Shukla will be sworn in at the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Lokayukta’s position has been vacant for some time.

“(Retired) Judge Rajesh H Shukla has been appointed as the next Lokayukta in Gujarat. His oath ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Raj Bhavan, ”said a senior official from the Department of General Administration.

Born in December 1956, (retired) Judge Shukla began his career as a lawyer in 1981. He was appointed to the subordinate judiciary in 1994 and elevated to the higher judiciary as an additional judge at the Gujarat High Court in 2007.

The Shukla swearing-in will likely feature Prime Minister Vijay Rupani, Minister of Law Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of State for the Pradeepsinh Jadeja household and judges of the Gujarat High Court.
