Russia requested military and economic assistance from China. But, according to sources, the US claims that Russia sought China’s Ukraine- Russian war support. 

Now, Russia is demanding military and financial aid to help with their Ukraine invasion and oppose sanctions. But, according to reports, US officials have declined to provide any additional details about the weapons Russia has sought.

Liu Pengyu, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Embassy, told CNN that he has “never heard” that Russia had requested aid from China:

“China is profoundly worried and saddened by the situation in Ukraine. We genuinely hope that the situation will improve and that peace will return soon.”

Russia was hit with crippling international sanctions after launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. 

The United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union were among those who imposed economic sanctions on Russia’s government, corporations, and President Vladimir Putin.

According to reports, Russia requested military and economic assistance from China.

Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, met with Xi Jinping, the Chinese president, on February 4. 

Following that, they issued a statement criticizing the US and declaring that their friendship with Russia and China has “no bounds.” 

But, on the other hand, Xi has refrained from totally endorsing Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

While Russian troops continue to march in Ukraine, the country’s military is in serious trouble. 

Yet, despite this defeat, Ukraine has received significant help and weapons from its Western friends. 

Russian forces have been halted in several parts of Ukraine, but Chinese military support could be helpful to Russia.

Following the approval of $13.6 billion in emergency humanitarian aid for Ukraine by the US Senate last week, the White House has authorized the delivery of $200 million in weapons to Ukraine. 

In an interview with CNN, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan expressed concern about Russia asking China for assistance. 

He also stated that there is evidence that China may have been aware of the invasion in advance.

According to National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, the White House has warned China that assisting Russia in avoiding US sanctions will result in “severe consequences.” 

However, he didn’t specify whether the US would slap sanctions on China if it assisted Russia.
