Russia is stopping firefighters from accessing the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

At some point on Friday, as Russia’s war in Ukraine reached its ninth day, a fire broke out at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhia.

Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, says that if this nuclear plant goes off, it could do 10 times as much damage as Chernobyl did to the world.

They also met on Thursday for the second round of peace talks. They agreed on a humanitarian corridor for the safe evacuation of civilians.

More than 6,400 Indian nationals have been safely evacuated so far as part of Operation Ganga, the Indian government’s plan to get them home.

Another 18 flights are scheduled for today to bring more Indians back to their home countries.
