Textile trading stores in Surat will remain closed from May 13-17, the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association said on Wednesday.
A FOSTTA delegation, led by President Manoj Agrawal, Secretary-General Champalal Bothra, and Treasurer Rajesh Agrawal, met with Surat Municipal Commissioner BN Pani and Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar to decide whether to allow stores will reopen starting Thursday.
“We urged the Surat Police Commissioner to allow us to keep the textile trading market open for three hours in the morning. He asked us to wait until May 17. Therefore, we have informed the merchants that the closure will continue until May 17, ”said the treasurer.
