Trinamool congressional deputy Mahua Moitra sent a letter to Delhi police on Saturday requesting to remove armed security officers from outside his residence.
Moitra said he had never asked for protection and appeared to be “under some kind of surveillance.”
“The conduct of these armed officers indicates that they are taking notes of my movements to and from my residence, it seems to me that I am under some kind of surveillance,” said the MP of TMC in the letter addressed to the officer of the police station (SHO), Barakhamba Road Police Station. The letter was marked for Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava.

While speaking to the media outside Lok Sabha, Moitra noted that rather than simply protecting her, the armed forces should protect all citizens. “Don’t waste resources protecting only me, protect everyone. I don’t need anything special, I don’t take security. If you watch me, ask me and I’ll tell you. Indian democracy is already under threat, don’t make us feel like we live in the Russian Gulag, ”the ANI news agency said, quoting her.
