According to police, a second FIR was filed under identical provisions against banned BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma and other social media users.

“The FIR is against several people from various faiths,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) KPS Malhotra.

“The team will look into the actions of different social media organizations in spreading false and incorrect information to cause a disturbance in cyberspace and have consequences in physical space, therefore jeopardizing the country’s social fabric,” Mr Malhotra said.

Journalist Saba Naqvi has yet to issue an official statement; however, her most recent tweet (on June 7) said, “Will be off social media for a time.”
