The Telangana government has decided to purchase rice this year through its village-level centers.
After the three farm laws were passed, there was uncertainty about buying rice in the state. However, on Monday, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, during a review meeting, made the decision to purchase rice through 6,408 village centers, as was done last year.
On Monday, Rao asked officials to secure the minimum support price (MSP) for rice brought to the centers with a moisture content below 17 percent.
The rice was grown on 52.76 lakh acres, and the state expects a yield of 1.17 million metric tons of coarse variety rice and 21 lakh tons of fine variety rice.
According to the CM office, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar was ordered to conduct an emergency video conference with all the district collectors on the establishment of procurement centers and Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy was asked to oversee the process. Chief Secretary (Finance) Ramakrishna Rao was ordered to arrange for a bank guarantee of Rs 20 billion before Tuesday night.
Officials were asked to keep Rs 20 million jute bags ready at the procurement centers.
During the same meeting, the CM asked the chief secretary to identify the land that would be leased to the Central Storage Corporation, which is ready to build additional warehouses to store food grains.
The CM also wanted farmers to be ready to grow cotton on 75 to 80 lakh acres in the upcoming monsoon season as the cotton produced in the state was of better quality and therefore had a better price in the market. international. Similarly, he said arrangements should be made to grow red gram on 20 to 25 lakh acres, an official statement said.
