The Suspect of Lily Peters’s killing claims he sexually assaulted her.
The 14-year-old suspect in the killing of Iliana “Lily” Peters told detectives he struck, strangled, and sexually assaulted her.
On Monday, Peters was discovered dead in Wisconsin after her family reported her missing.
However, the prosecutors said the youngster admitted that he planned to rape and kill Peters “from the start” on Sunday night when he began following her down a trail after she left her aunt’s home.
“Protection of (the) community is also necessary in this case, given his intentions statements. His statements regarding the fact that when he did get off the trail. Then he punched the victim in the stomach and knocked her to the ground. Also, essentially strangled her, hit her with a stick, before strangling her to the point of death — before sexually assaulting her,” Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell told the judge at the bond hearing, according to the Assault.
After hearing from both legal teams, judge Ben Lane accepted prosecutors’ request to detain the kid on a $1 million cash bond, calling his alleged crimes “a substantial threat to the community.”
The boy’s defense team had requested a $100,000 bond, claiming that he was not a flight risk because he was too young to drive.
According to Newell, the boy is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault, and first-degree Sexual Assault of a minor under 13.
As a result in serious bodily harm. According to the Associated Press, the judge sealed the criminal complaint in the case.
The suspect’s name, who appeared in court on video, has not been published.
However, authorities claim he has spent his whole life in Chippewa County, Wisconsin. According to investigators, he and Peters knew each other.
“At this moment, we do not believe there is any danger to the community.”
After failing to come home from her aunt’s house on Sunday night, Peters was reported missing. Officers discovered a bicycle near a walking trail while searching for the girl.
According to officials, her body was discovered in a forested area along the walking trail on Monday morning. According to CBS Minnesota, the suspect was apprehended on Tuesday at a residence on the same block as Peters’ aunts.
