Volodymyr Zelensky is looking to compromise with Russia to stop the war. 

Lviv: Russian warplanes and artillery fire continued to pound Kyiv’s structures. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country was willing to accept security guarantees that fell short of its long-term goal of NATO membership Moscow opposes.

Zelensky, who has been praised in the West for his bravery in the face of adversity, has called for Russian troops to surrender. 

“Ukraine will not be taken from you. You’re going to kill people,” In a video message, he stated. “But why are you going to die? For what purpose? I understand your want to live.”

He also hinted that Kyiv would be willing to make concessions on its NATO membership ambitions, which have enraged Moscow. “If we can’t get in through open doors, we’ll have to work with the organizations that can aid us, defend us…and provide distinct guarantees.”

A convoy of residents left the besieged port city of Mariupol for safer portions amid Russian bombardment.

According to authorities, on the 20th day of the Russian attack, at least five persons were killed in the bombardments on Kyiv. In addition, people were buried under the rubble after buildings were set on fire.

Despite the threat, Poland, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic arrived in the city to express their support for the city’s residents. Civilians were being evacuated from places under attack by Russian soldiers rapidly. 

According to the local government, some 2,000 cars were able to leave the port city of Mariupol, with a comparable number waiting to follow.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said a convoy carrying supplies for Mariupol, whose population has been sheltering from repeated Russian bombardments and is in critical need of food and water.

On Tuesday, video-conference talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations resumed. 

Ukrainian leaders have expressed optimism that the war will finish sooner than predicted, claiming that Moscow finally accepts its failure to impose a new administration on Kyiv by force.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO leaders would meet on March 24 in Brussels to address the incursion and demonstrate solidarity for Ukraine. “North America and Europe must continue to stand together at this vital time,” Stoltenberg added. According to the White House, US Vice President Joe Biden will attend.

SIGNS OF SUCCESS

Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, said it was too early to forecast progress in the discussions, but that “the work is difficult, and in the current scenario, the fact that (the talks) are continuing is certainly encouraging.”

The conflict would be done by Mayor maybe weeks, according to one of Zelenskiy’s top advisers, because Russia had run out of new troops. 

In a video, Oleksiy Arestovich said, “We are at a fork in the road now.” He predicted that either a peace settlement would be reached in one or two weeks or that Russia would try again with more reinforcements, extending the battle for another month.

Russian representative Vassily Nebenzia told the United Nations that Moscow would terminate its “special military operation” if its objectives were met.
