A whimsical pitch by Manpreet Gony during the India Legends vs Sri Lanka Legends final at the World Road Safety Series on Sunday hit Sri Lankan batsman Chinthaka Jayasinghe in the final 17th of the chase. There was a long delay as the batter required medical attention. The Indian players milling around the batter worriedly and Gony was the first to apologize for the pitch.
The incident occurred on 17 of Sri Lanka’s entries, when they attempted to pursue the 182 target set by India Legends. Gony threw a full delivery that Jayasinghe could only return directly to him, thus tossing a point ball in a Free Strike delivery. In his follow-up, Gony picked up the ball and threw it directly at the batter, hitting his elbow.
