YouTube blocks Russian media channels globally.
YouTube, an American online video sharing and social media platform, announced on Friday (local time) that it will “immediately” restrict Russian state-funded media stations worldwide.
“We remove anything about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that violates our Community Guidelines because it denies, minimizes, or trivializes well-documented horrific events.
As a result, we are suspending YouTube channels affiliated with Russian state-funded media globally, effective immediately. “According to CNN, YouTube said in a statement.
The internet corporation announced on Twitter that it has begun blocking RT and Sputnik’s YouTube channels across Europe, stressing that it has previously taken additional steps since Russia started military activities in Ukraine.
“For Russian state-funded media channels, we suspended monetization and drastically curtailed suggestions. Both acts are worldwide in scope and indefinite in duration. “YouTube announced it on Twitter.
“Our Trust & Safety team has worked hard to remove any potentially harmful content as promptly as possible. For breaking our Community Guidelines, including our restrictions on deceptive practices and misinformation, we’ve removed hundreds of channels and thousands of videos.” YouTube has been added.
“Our systems prominently showcase authoritative news items in both our Top News and Breaking News shelves and will continue to do so as needed,” YouTube said when visitors search for themes about Russia and Ukraine.
It also includes information panels beneath films produced by news organizations that get government financing.
YouTube had previously prohibited Russian state media station RT solely in Ukraine and its ability to monetize video globally.
