A high-level multidisciplinary team rushed to Kanpur after the Zika virus case was reported.
The Union Ministry of Health has dispatched a high-level multidisciplinary team to Uttar Pradesh, where a case of Zika virus disease has been reported. A 57-year-old man from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh tested positive for the Zika virus on October 22.
In a statement, the ministry said that the multidisciplinary team made up of an entomologist, public health specialists, and a gynecologist from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, the National Center for Disease Control and the RML Hospital of New Delhi will be has deployed to assist state health authorities for control and containment measures for Zika virus disease.
The team will work closely with the state health department, take stock of the situation on the ground, and assess whether the Union Ministry of Health’s Zika Management Action Plan is being implemented.
The team will also recommend public health interventions necessary for the management of Zika in the state, according to the statement.
