A shark attacks and bite a surfer on California beach.
At a California beach on Wednesday morning, a surfer was attacked by a shark and sustained “serious” wounds.
Pacific Grove Police Chief Cathy Madalone stated that a shark attacked a surfer just before 11 a.m. off Lovers Point Beach in the city.
The surfer was taken to Natividad Hospital in Salinas shortly after the incident to get medical attention.
According to Joe Amelio, a Pacific Grove City Council member, the surfer had serious injuries to his stomach, arm, and leg.
California State Parks followed policy by closing Lovers Point and Sea Palm beaches until Saturday as the Monterey and Seaside fire departments used overhead drones to look for the shark.
Police hailed the good Samaritans who raced to help the surfer after the incident and said the shark had not yet been seen. Bystander Kevin Phillips recorded the incident and shared it on social media, purporting to show the victim being carried to the beach by paddle boarders or surfers.
