A urinary tract infection extends the time Pele spends in the hospital.
Brazilian football legend Pele has contracted a urinary tract infection that will keep him in the hospital longer than doctors had expected. The clinic in which he was treated was announced on Monday.
Pele was receiving chemotherapy for colon cancer which was surgically taken out in September. He was returned to the Albert Einstein hospital on Feb 13.
But, “during his stay, routine tests were conducted that revealed an indication of urinary tract infection which extended the time he is at the hospital,” an announcement from the Sao Paulo clinic said.

“His clinical condition is stable, and he is expected to be released within the next days.”
Widely regarded as one of the best footballers ever, the 81-year-old ex- Santos, New York Cosmos, and Brazil player has been afflicted by numerous health issues in recent times and hip surgeries that resulted in him suffering from chronic problems walking and pain. He also had trouble walking with no assistance.
