After Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Will Congress Lose Rajasthan? All Eyes on Gehlot's Meeting With MLAs Today

Rajasthan Political crisis Latest news: The political crisis in Rajasthan worsened further after Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Sunday made an open rebellion against Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot and said that the Prime Minister is a minority.

Affirming that he has the support of more than 30 MLA from Congress and some independents, Pilot said he will not attend the meeting of the Legislative Congress Party scheduled for Monday called by Gehlot.

Pilot’s statement came as ministers and congressional MLAs met at Gehlot’s official residence in the state capital for a meeting to express their support for the prime minister.

After holding a meeting with the Chief Minister, Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said the party remained intact and that his government will complete a five-year term in the state.

Earlier in the day, Secretary-General of the All-India Congress Committee Avinash Pande said he had been trying to contact the leader for the past two days.

On the other hand, Pilot’s supporters said he is camping in Delhi and is upset by a notice sent to him by the Rajasthan police, who claimed to have stumbled on a plot to overthrow the government of Congress.

In particular, the notification from the Special Operations Group (SOG) asked Pilot for time to file a statement. The same notice was also sent to Gehlot, Head of Government Whip Mahesh Joshi, and a few other MLAs, but those close to Pilot insisted that he intended to humiliate him.

On Twitter, Gehlot said the police notices had been sent to several people, including him. He did not name Pilot but said a section of the media had misinterpreted the notices.

In addition to the SOG investigation, the state Anti-Corruption Bureau has also begun an investigation into the alleged attempt to overthrow the government.

In criticizing the BJP for the crisis in the state, Gehlot had argued that the BJP opposition was trying to lure MLAs out of Congress to overthrow the state government.

However, the BJP dismissed the claim, saying that recent developments only reflected a power struggle between Gehlot and Pilot.

In reaction to the situation, the leader of the Congress, Kapil Sibal, expressed his concern. “Concerned about our party. Will we wake up only after the horses have escaped from our stables? I ask.

At the 200 MLA Rajasthan assembly, Congress has 107 members and BJP 72. Judging from Pilot’s claim, Congress has fallen below the halfway mark.

To control the situation, Congress on Sunday sent two of its top leaders as central observers to Jaipur to speak to their MLAs.

The new political crisis in Rajasthan erupted almost four months after the Madhya Pradesh congressional government, headed by Kamal Nath, was overthrown and Jyoritaditya Scindia switched sides to the BJP, along with its supporters.

Meanwhile, Scindia struck a blow in Congress claiming that talent and ability find “little credibility” at the party.

“It is sad to see my former colleague, Sachin Pilot too, being marginalized and persecuted by Rajasthan CM, Ashok Gehlot. It shows that talent and ability find little credibility in Congress, “he tweeted.
