On Monday, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has criticized government
officials from the Maharashtra government just days after it announced its decision to
permit the sale of wine at supermarkets.
AIMIM MEP of Aurangabad Syed Imtiyaz Jaleel slammed the Maharashtra government for
allowing the sale of wines in grocery stores and supermarkets and said it would “ruin the
culture.”
In addition, he warned that establishments and shops that sell wine “will be vandalized” if
they are allowed to open within the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. In addition, Jaleel
has opined that should you believe that the Maharashtra state government were “genuinely
concerned” about farmers and their livelihoods, it should allow growing Cannabis.
He further said that the Maharashtra government could have backed milk bars and urged
consumers to drink them so that farmers could have gained from this decision.

be opened at Aurangabad in addition to having urged authorities in the state to “open even
one such wine bar” within his district.

Maharashtra government allows the sale of wine in supermarkets.
The previous day on Thursday, it was announced that the Maharashtra administration
announced wines are now available at all supermarkets in the state.
As per the policy change, the sale of bottles of wine will now be allowed through
departmental and grocery stores across the state.
In the past, sales of wine were permitted only in liquor stores.
