On Monday, Home Minister Amit Shah stated in Assam that the forthcoming census will be computerized and finished by 2024.
The Home Minister stated that the census would be updated automatically after every birth and death in the nation with the computerized approach. He spoke at the opening of the new office building of the Directorate of Census Operations in Amingaon, Kamrup district.
Mr. Shah said that although the digital census will have its own set of issues, it would also have benefits, as nearly half of the population would be able to enter their data after the smartphone application was downloaded.

The Union Minister emphasized the significance of the digital census, saying that it will influence the “plans of the nation for the next 25 years.” He said, “As soon as the corona epidemic has subsided, the computerized census procedure will begin throughout the nation. Before 2024, the computerized census will be finished.”
The Home Minister said that the 2021 census had been postponed because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Without a flawless census, perfect planning of any developmental works and projects would be impossible.
“I understand that using the most up-to-date and contemporary procedures to make the census process more scientific is a massive undertaking,” he stated, “but the officials and enumerators will make this essential work successful, result-oriented, and purposeful.”
Mr. Shah said that the engagement of the federal and state governments and other stakeholders is critical in making an effort more “outcome-oriented.” “Undesirable items might be avoided by checking and counterchecking,” he stated.

According to the Home Minister, the circumstances of the child’s birth would be recorded in census records, and once they turned 18, the record would be enrolled in the electoral lists. The name would be erased after death, but changing an address change and other essential information would be much easy.
Mr. Shah praised India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, for initiating the most critical effort in 1951, which was to organize a census.
Mr. Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that when India celebrates its 100th year of independence, all sectors of the nation must be at their best.
