However, it was progressing slowly towards failure with serious complications. It was then that Vinod came forward as a possible kidney donor. Both were investigated and were considered appropriate for kidney transplantation.
The transplant surgery was performed at a private hospital in the city on Sunday for Valentine’s Day. “For the first time, on Valentine’s Day, we will perform the surgery. We are very excited, ”Dr. Siddhartha Mavani in Ahmedabad told ANI on Saturday.
Vinod said that upon seeing his wife’s pain, he decided to donate her kidney. “My wife has been suffering from the disease for the past three years and was put on dialysis a month ago. Seeing her pain, I decided to donate my kidney. She has 44 years. I want to give the message to society that everyone should respect their partner and help each other when necessary, ”he told ANI.
A local newspaper called Navjeevan Express also quoted Patel as saying, “All these years, she was with me in all situations in life. So how could he let her fight this problem alone? Therefore, I have decided to donate one of my kidneys. Call it my love or my duty, she has been the most loving and caring member of the family. “
Expressing gratitude to her husband, Rita said she considers herself lucky to have a wonderful partner who has supported her through difficult times.
“I was having trouble breathing. My husband told me that he will donate his only kidney to me and that we can both live together. I consider myself lucky to be able to live again. I am grateful to my husband and my family, ”she said.
