Ankita Raina Wins the First WTA Title: Become the First Indian Tennis Player in the Top 100 after Sania Mirza
Ankita Raina of India won her first WTA title on Friday when she and fellow Russian Kamilla Rakhimova secured the doubles event at the Phillip Island Trophy here.
The Ankita-Kamilla couple beat Russia’s Anna Blinkova and Anastasia Potapova 2-6 6-4 10-7 in the final.
The victory will propel Ankita, 28, to the top 100 in the WTA doubles standings. She will be the second Indian player to be in the top 100 after Sania Mirza.
