Apollo Hospitals will Start Covid vaccination in some cities today.
Apollo Hospitals will begin vaccines against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for people 18 to 44 years old starting Saturday. The group’s executive vice president, Shobana Kamineni, mentioned that the group had managed to acquire some vaccines directly from the manufacturers.
However, the group has not identified which of its 70 hospitals in 24 cities will begin vaccination as of Saturday.
A statement from the Apollo Hospitals Group noted government guidelines that require vaccines to be administered to eligible individuals who have signed up for the Cowin app and made an appointment for the vaccine injection at Apollo Hospitals.
“Whichever portal opens tomorrow (May 1). Not all states have updated the portals,” he said all Apollo centers would start vaccination for the 18-44 age group beginning May 1.
Serum Institute of India (SII), which makes Covishield, had previously announced that a single dose of its vaccine for hospitals and private centers would cost rupees 600. Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin cost for a single dose rupees 1,200 for hospitals and private institutions.
Max Healthcare will also reportedly available vaccination for people in the 18-44 age group. However, there is still no formal statement from the group.
On April 19, the central government declared that it would open Covid-19 vaccination for everyone over 18 years of age starting on May 1 as part of a liberalized and accelerated phase 3 strategy of Covid-19 vaccination. They decided at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
