In the third deadly incident in Israel in a week, an Arab shooter killed at least five people in a Tel Aviv suburb before being fatally shot, according to the national ambulance service.

After the shootings in Bnei Brak, a Jewish ultra-Orthodox city on the outskirts of Israel’s commercial capital, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett tweeted, “Israel is facing a wave of homicidal Arab terror.”

In the last week, the shooting brought the total number of individuals slain by Arab gunmen in Israel to 11, the highest number in years.

According to the Palestinian Wafa news agency, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the murders of Israeli civilians and highlighted that killing Israelis and Palestinians will only worsen the situation, warning against retaliation assaults by Jewish settlers and others.

Across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which Israel won in a 1967 conflict, Palestinians have reported increasing settler violence.

According to an amateur video shown on Israeli television, a man clad in black and pointing an assault weapon walked down a road in Bnei Brak.

According to Israeli media reports citing anonymous security officials, the attacker was a Palestinian from a town near Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

Before cops fatally shot the gunman, police said he killed four bystanders and an officer who had arrived on the scene.

The attack was not immediately claimed due to a claim of responsibility.

Israeli officials have warned of an increase in assaults in the months leading up to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which has seen a spike in violence in the past.

Ramadan violence between Palestinians and Israeli police and settlers occurred every night last year. Raids on the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and a restriction on nightly gatherings at Damascus Gate sparked 11 days of Palestinian rocket launches and Israeli airstrikes between Israel and Gaza terrorists.

Witnesses in Bnei Brak stated the gunman started firing from apartment balconies before moving on to victims on the street and in a car.

According to a tweet provided by Magen David Adom, paramedic Menachem Englander said, “I live on Hashneim Street in Bnei Brak, and I was at home when I heard gunfire.” “I went out into the street right away and saw a terrorist brandishing a weapon. By some miracle, his rifle jammed, and he could not fire.”

Last week, in the southern city of Beersheba, an Arab Israeli citizen killed four people in a stabbing and car-ramming incident before being shot dead by a passerby. Israeli authorities described him as a supporter of the Islamic State.

On Sunday, an Arab assailant shot and killed two police officers in Hadera, a city 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Tel Aviv, while an Israeli-Arab meeting was taking place in southern Israel. He was shot and murdered by other officers.
