Aston Villa to sign Lucas Digne for four and a half years: report

Aston Villa is reportedly closing in on Lucas Digne, a player also linked to Newcastle United and Chelsea.

According to L’Equipe, the Frenchman will sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Villans.

Digne has had a “very hectic” few hours with failed last-minute offers, the French outlet added.

And barring a late trade, Digne will be a Villa player and is “very excited” to be working with Steven Gerrard.

Sky sports have claimed that both the Magpies and the Blues were also looking at Digne.

However, it now appears that Newcastle and Chelsea will lose to Villa for the talented Frenchman.

Those of Steven Gerrard has already brought Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona.

In a separate development, Everton reportedly asked for Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi.

Digne has fallen out of favor with Rafa Benitez at Everton, the last playing in early December.

Digne has more than 40 appearances for France and has won titles with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
