India’s Abhishek Saini beat the compatriot Rithvik Sanjeevi with straight games in the final match to win the men’s singles title in the Bangladesh International Challenge badminton tournament.
The following day, Saini won over Sanjeevi 21-15 21-18 after 34 minutes. In the semifinals earlier, Saini had quelled the rival Indian Kartikey Gulshan Kumar 17-21 21-15 21-15.
Then, Sanjeevi, a pupil of the Hatsun Badminton Centre in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, edged out Indonesia player Sulistio Tegar 21-13, 19-21, 21-14.
Indian team comprised of Mehreen Riza and Arathi Sara Sunil took the title in the women’s doubles competition, defeating Kasturi Radhakrishnan and Kenosha Radhakrishna (Malaysia) 22-20 21-12 in the final.
Final of the mixed doubles was a shambles for the Indian team comprised of Pratik Ranade and Akshaya Warang go down 15-21 18-21, to the Sri Lankan team of Sachin Dias and Kavidi Sirimannage.
Pratik Ranade and Akshaya Warang beat fellow compatriots Nazeer Khan and Nila Valluvan 21-16, 21-18 in the semifinals.
