BCCI Sends SOP to State Units on Resumption: Over 60 as Arun Lal, Dav Whatmore Banned

Players will be required to sign a consent form before resuming training at their respective centers, BCCI said Sunday in its POEs to state associations, which also banned anyone over the age of 60 and people with underlying medical conditions.

Under their 100-page Standard Operating Procedure, players must sign the form acknowledging the risks involved with resuming training in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“People over 60, that is, support staff, referees, ground staff, and people with underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, weakened immunity, should be considered vulnerable and believed to be at increased risk for COVID- 19 serious, “Read one of the guidelines from BCCI’s 100-page SOP, which is owned by PTI.

“All of these people should be discouraged from participating in camp activities unless the government issues the proper guidelines,” he said.

Dav Whatmore, 66, was named by Baroda in April, while Arun Lal, 65, led Bengal to the Ranji Trophy final in March.

According to the SOP, before the start of the camp, the medical team must acquire the medical and travel history (last 2 weeks) of all the players and staff through an online questionnaire. Any player and staff suspected of having COVID-19-like symptoms should undergo PCR testing for COVID-19.

“Two tests should be done one day apart (Day 1 and Day 3) to account for false negatives. If both test results are negative, only then should they be included in the camp, ”read the POE.

Players will have to wear an N95 mask (without a valved respirator) on the way to the stadium and will be encouraged to wear glasses in public places as well as during training.

The 2019-2020 national season ended in March, but the next season, which usually begins in August, will be shortened due to the health crisis.
