Omicron: 23 instances of Omicron COVID-19 variant are reported throughout the nation. Maharashtra has reported 10 cases, while Rajasthan has 9 instances.

An 46-year-old Bengaluru doctor who was among the first victims of Omicron found in India was once more confirmed positive for Covid, an official of the highest rank announced today.

The RT-PCR test was performed seven days after the last test as per the guidelines given by the Health ministry. Therefore, he will remain in observation for another seven days and will be released only following the results of a negative test of RT-PCR.

Karnataka is the first in the nation to have two cases reported – aged 46 and 66 years old male coronavirus type in India.

Five patients who came into Kontakt with Bengaluru physician and who have been positive for testing have returned negative tests and are scheduled to be released later today. 

Five of the samples were sent to be sequenced for genomes, and the results remain to be waited for.

The following Monday, the state government was also able to trace more than 200 people who came into contact with two patients and examined the patients for Covid.

“Thirteen of the primary contacts and nearly 205 secondary contacts of the doctor were traced,” said Bangalore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Gupta.

Karnataka has approved two laboratories for genome sequencing and is planning to expand testing. The state government also requested the approval of the Centre for four more labs like this.

23 instances from the Omicron version of COVID-19 have been identified throughout the nation. Maharashtra is the only state with 10 cases, and Rajasthan has nine instances.

The Omicron variant that was first discovered in South Africa has been reported in various parts of the world; however, no deaths have been confirmed. 

Authorities around the world are trying to find out how infectious it is and how effective the existing vaccines are.
