Biden Says, “Putin will pay the price for the Ukraine invasion.”
It doesn’t matter if Vladimir Putin wins on the battlefield in Ukraine. But, even if he does, the US says he will “pay in the long run.” Biden told the State of the Union Address: “While he may make some progress on the battlefield, he will pay a high price over time.”
He accused Putin of starting a “premeditated and unprovoked” war against Ukraine. Biden said that the United States is ready to take on the threat posed by Putin.
“Our history has shown us that when dictators don’t pay for their actions, they make things even crazier. They move on. Besides that, the costs and threats to both America and the world keep going up.” It was Biden’s first State of the Union address, and he said that.
Joe Biden led a standing ovation for the people of Ukraine on Tuesday in a State of the Union speech that he rewrote to criticize Vladimir Putin for taking over Ukraine. “Let each of us, if we can, stand and send a clear message to Ukraine and the world,” Biden said.
In his first formal State of the Union speech, both Democrats and Republicans rose to applaud his support for Ukraine, with many waving Ukrainian flags and cheering as he talked about the country.
Then, Biden said of Putin: “He doesn’t know what’s going to happen.” During his first year in office, the economy increased, and trillions of dollars were spent on new programs.
However, the inflation rate was the highest in 40 years, and the coronavirus pandemic was still going on. So Biden wanted to start over.
The annual speech to Congress gave Biden a chance to talk about his plans, reassure worried people, and try to boost his poll numbers, all while Democrats were predicting big losses in the November elections.
Vice President Biden also talked about some of the essential things that have happened in the last year and how he thinks the country should deal with them.
Before Biden came, the flags were spread out in the House chamber, where he spoke. The flag’s colors of yellow and blue were worn by several Congresswomen when they came to the meeting.
As Vice President, Biden had to show Americans that he was on top of what Western countries were doing when they were at their most tense since the Cold War came to an end 30 years ago.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine has put Vice President Joe Biden’s ability to react quickly to events without putting American troops in harm’s way to the test.
Biden has had to change the speech because of the crisis. Instead, he wants to focus on getting Americans to work together to punish Moscow and support Kyiv.
In his speech, he was very critical of Putin, saying that the Russian leader had made a big mistake about Ukraine. “This is what the man thought. He thought he could roll into Ukraine, and the world would fall over. But, instead, he came up against a wall of strength he didn’t expect. But, then, he met the people of Ukraine,” he said that.
The bravery, courage, and determination of the people of Ukraine “inspire the world,” Biden said, adding that “Putin ignored efforts to avoid war.”
“Putin’s war was planned and unprovoked. He didn’t like the idea of diplomacy. He thought the West and NATO wouldn’t do anything. And, he thought he could divide us at home, too,” Biden says that.
On the other hand, Biden said that the US forces “will not be involved in the conflict with Russian forces in Ukraine.” He said that his top priority was to keep inflation in the US under control.
