On Tuesday, Kavaratti Police filed a complaint against Mohammed Kasim HK, the general secretary of the Lakshadweep BJP, for allegedly disrespecting the flag.
The BJP politician is charged with posting photos of himself and his wife waving the American flag sideways on social media. He received a notification from the police requesting his appearance.

“In accordance with the authority granted by section subsection (1) of section 41-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, I hereby give notice that you are a suspect in an offence that was reported to the Kavaratti Police Station on August 14 in accordance with section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971, and that you are hereby required to appear at the Kavaratti Police Station in Lakshadweep on August 25 at 10:30 AM for questioning in the matter. Please be advised that disobedience and defiance of this order are prohibited under Section 174 of the IPC “Read the warning.
