BJP Youth Leader Arrested for Rape and Blackmail in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh police have booked Rajesh Shrivastav, the Mandal Adhyakash of Jabalpur, for raping and blackmailing a woman. The matter came to light after the woman approached the women’s police station together with her husband and filed an FIR against Shrivastav.

According to the Jabalpur police, the woman met Shrivastav, who used to come to her home while her husband, who is a government employee, was absent for work. The woman in her complaint stated that it was during one of those visits that the defendant added the juice that she had been offered and drank, lost consciousness and was raped by Shrivastav.

The woman has stated that Shrivastav clicked on her photos and made videos of the event and would threaten her with them. However, the matter escalated after the woman returned to her husband in September 2020, which is when Shrivastav began demanding that the woman return and if she disagreed, he threatened to send those videos to her husband. A Jabalpur police officer said: “He told the woman to go back with him or to drop 10 lakh rupees. But after the woman disagreed, she sent the videos and photos to her husband, after which the matter came to light. ”

The woman informed her husband about the incident and the two later came to the police station and registered a case against Shrivastav. The police have registered Shrivastav under sections 376 (2-N), 506l, 284 and 384 of the Indian Penal Code. Police Superintendent Siddharth Bahuguna said: “The accused is a local leader of Yuva Morcha of the BJP. We have registered a case against him based on the woman’s complaint and he will soon be arrested ”.

While the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh claimed that the act of rape and blackmail by a BJP leader has crossed all boundaries.

When contacted, Rajneesh Agarwal, a spokesperson for BJP, said: “I was not aware of the matter, but the law will take the course.”
