According to reports, Eknath Shinde and the dissident Shiv Sena MLAs would likely return to Mumbai today after visiting Goa after taking the oath of office as chief minister of Maharashtra. On Monday, Team Shinde must demonstrate its majority in the Maharashtra legislature.

In addition to the strength test, Monday is expected to see intense activity in the Supreme Court, where Team Thackeray has petitioned to disqualify 15 Sena dissidents, including Mr Shinde. On Monday, a second petition against the effort to disqualify the new Chief Minister will be heard.
