BMW M1000RR launched in India at Rs 42 lakh

BMW Motorrad has announced the prices of its latest motorcycle for India: the M1000RR. Based on the S1000RR liter-class superbike, the BMW M1000RR has been launched at Rs 42 lakh, and the higher-spec BMW M1000RR Competition is priced at Rs 45 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The M1000RR is the first motorcycle with the M badge, but you pay quite a bit for the privilege, as these prices mean that the M1000RR costs almost twice as much as the motorcycle it is based on.

The M1000RR is a special homologation (created by BMW Motorrad to comply with the regulations of the FIM World Superbike Championship); a lighter and more powerful iteration of the S1000RR with a 16mm longer wheelbase for greater high-speed stability

The S1000RR’s 999cc inline-four engine is now equipped with lighter pistons and other components, increasing total power to 212 hp (from the S1000RR’s 207 hp). 0-100 km / h time h for the BMW M1000RR is set at 3.1 seconds (0.2 seconds faster than the S1000RR), and is said to be almost half a second faster at 200 km / h compared to the bike on which it is based. The top speed of the BMW M1000RR is 306 km / h. BMW has worked on the engine to ensure it delivers stronger mid-range and high-end performance, which will come in handy on the race track.

In addition to having carbon fiber body inserts and 17-inch M carbon wheels, the M1000RR also features an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, which takes an additional 3.7kg off the bike. All of this helps reduce the wet weight of the M1000RR to 192 kg.

Also part of the M1000RR package is carbon fiber winglets (providing 16.3 kg of downforce at 299 km / h), Gear Shift Assist Pro that enables clutchless upshifting and downshifting, a 6.5 instrument display inches, and four driving modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. Launch control and a pitlane speed limiter come standard.

In addition to the features of the standard M1000RR, the BMW M1000RR Competition includes a GPS lap trigger, a passenger seat cover, carbon fiber fenders, and a few more things that make it more track-friendly.
