SSC Group D recruitment

SSC Group D recruitment: A division bench of the Calcutta High Court ordered a special investigation team (SIT) investigation under the direction of an ex-judicator of the High Court to investigate the irregularities that occurred in the recruitment for SSC Group D personnel from SSC School Service Commission (SSC).

A team of three members is being formed and must submit the report within two weeks.

The decision comes following the state government’s motion to the division bench in opposition to the validity of a CBI investigation into the case by one court justice.

In deciding to rescind the single bench’s order, the division bench demanded an inquiry from SIT on Monday.

The three-member team constituted by the court consists of SSC representatives Asutosh Ghosh and deputy secretary of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) Paramita Roy, and Advocate of Calcutta High Court Arunava Ghosh.

The investigation will be overseen by the former justice of the Calcutta High Court, Ranjit Kumar Bag.

The SIT will present its report in front of the Division Bench in two months. The state government was ordered to cover all expenses required for the inquiry.

The judge who made the decision, the division bench, noted that it aimed to assign the burden to an individual against whom no issue can be raised.

The state suggested hiring approximately 13,000 fourth-class personnel in various schools of the state.

In response, the WBSSC conducted tests and interviews frequently, and a panel was created.

The panel’s tenure expired in the year 2019. There was widespread suspicion that the commission had conducted many unconformist recruitments – no less than 500 after the panel’s term.

There was a suspicion that the recruitments were done through an office within the commission region.

In the past, it was reported that the Calcutta High Court had stopped the pay of 25 members of Group D due to alleged infractions over their selection by the WBBSE by recommendations made by WBSSC.

West Bengal Central School Service (WBSSC).
The court also requested both the SSC and the WBBSE to submit an affidavit of the hiring process.

The petitioners had claimed that there were over 55,000 applicants who were granted appointments after the selection process had ended.

The bench composed of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay called for a CBI investigation regarding the alleged fraudulent hirings, and the state government challenged the division bench.
