Canada removes personnel not essential from Canada’s embassy in Ukraine. 

Washington: Canada will temporarily remove the non-essential Canadian employees and their remaining dependents from the embassy of Canada in Ukraine. 

The ministry of foreign affairs announced on Sunday amid a standoff between the international community about Russian troops encircling the country’s borders.

“As we continue to closely monitor the situation, our highest priority remains the safety and security of Canadians. Our officials stand ready to provide consular assistance to Canadian citizens, as required,” the ministry stated in an announcement.

Canada has announced that it would enhance the staff of the Canadian Embassy by bringing in experts in security, conflict resolution, democratic reform, consular services.

“Together, they will increase our diplomatic capacity and allow us to continue to assess and respond to the evolving situation in support of Ukraine,” it added.
